PRODUCT NAME: | β-2-Microglobulin |
INTENDED USE: | β-2-Microglobulin is an ELISA test system for the quantitative measurement of β-2-Microglobulin in human urine, serum or plasma. |
PRODUCT OVERVIEW: | β-2-Microglobulin, the light chain of the major histocompatibility complex class I (HLA 1, MHC I) serves as a tumor marker in cases of multiple myeloma, Hodgkin’s disease, chronic lymphatic leukemia, and other non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. Other diseases (infections, autoimmune diseases) that involve activation of the cellular immune system also cause increased β-2-microglobulin concentrations in serum. β-2-Microglobulin is also used as a marker for evaluating the glomerular filtration rate, for the diagnosis and monitoring of tubulointersticial kidney damage, for monitoring kidney function after a kidney transplant, and monitoring HIV infections. |
